at Jazz Cafe, London
|
Since
their first release on Cosmic Sounds MB6 has replaced drummer and bass
player and they appeared live in London
(October
2000):
Mihailo
Krstic - bass.
Extremely talented and very young multi-instumentalist. Also plays
keyboards
with Coxless Pair and Violin with Space Runners
Goran
Milosevic - drums.
Another talented musician
that fits perfectly into this project.

SOUNDS
MENSON
BENSON SEXTET (MB6) is
another D. Petrovic's brain child. This is a band formed occasionally
when
Dusan needs to express himself differently. This is the most Jazziest
side
of him and, as paradox, for this project he uses non-Jazz musicians.
Here
is what he says about MB6: "As a sax player, a jazz admirer and
explorer,
for years i dreamed of putting together a group of talented musicians
who
had never had any experience in Jazz and of making them react to Jazz
standards.
My guess was that the fact they didn't know anything about it was just
going to enhance the beauty and excitement that jazz (for me) is all
about.
Sextet is not a real number of members but my aim is to always leave at
least one or two spaces for the spirits of the past and future".
In
a few words we could
say that MB6 are playing deeeep Jazz with a deeeeep bass line, scratch
as a part of a rhythm section and a mad, mad sax. ‘Favourite Tongues’
is
probably one of the best versions ever of “My Favourite Things”
(due
respect to Coltrane). Although being very Jazzy and quite heavy in
sound
it is a floor filler. I've tried it and it works. ZK.
